GlobalPORT-2008 «St.Petersburg — the Sea Capital of Russia. Transport and transit potential»

On 24—25 September, 2008 the First international conference GlobalPORT-2008 «Saint Petersburg — the Sea Capital of Russia. Transport and transit potential» took place in Saint Petersburg. The aim of the conference was to prepare proposals of solving problems faced in transport branch for the government.

For the first time proposals were prepared not in ministerial offices but by all participants of freight transportation process: consignors, forwarding agents, transport operators, ministries and departments representatives.

The Conference has been arranged within the project «Saint Petersburg — the Sea Capital of Russia» by the Political party United Russia (Yedinaya Rossiya), supported by the federal executive authorities, relative committees of the State Duma, Social-Conservative Politics Center, and Saint Petersburg Administration.

The conference' main targets:

• Establishing a platform for synergy of state government bodies and logistic services market participants
• Working-out proposals of solving problems associated with transport supply of increasing cargo traffic
• Interchange of complex logistic experience in Russia and abroadq
• Innovations, forecasts and new technologies of St.Petersburg transport potential development
