Dear Colleagues!

Human impact on the environment has caused a deterioration of ecological situation in many regions of the world. Today the need of natural ecosystems conservancy has got a really global scale and has become one of the main preconditions for the further existence of mankind. Unfortunately, the majority of people still does not realize all danger of the situation and continues to concern negligently to natural resources without thinking about the harmful effects of their activities.

One of the main areas suffering from the negative human impact, are water resources. Harmful substance discharge by industrial and utility companies into the rivers and seas significantly increases the level of water pollution, creating a threat of life for organisms dwelling in it. Serious danger to the environment is an active shipping, development and operation of ports. Urgent change of the situation and transition to rational use of water bodies are very necessary.

At the same time, intensification of nature protection activity of organizations should rely on the fair requirements of legislation providing not only penal sanctions for non-observance of corresponding norms, but also mechanisms of encouragement of ecologically responsible enterprises.

The problem of formation of a solicitous attitude of business community to water resources is in prospect of discussion by participants of the first International conference “St.-Petersburg – the sea capital of RUSSIA. Ecology”. Delegates from Russia and other states will consider the basic problems of large water pools and rivers of Russia. The participants should analyze current Russian ecological legislation and express their opinion concerning implementation of motivation systems for enterprises with the purpose of organization of pure and economically effective production process.
