SERDYUKOV VALERY PAVLOVICH

GOVERNOR OF LENINGRAD REGION

Greetings to all organizers and participants of the I International conference “St. Petersburg – the sea capital of Russia. Ecology”.

The forum has been initiated be All-Russian political party “United Russia” and is worth of the most active support as ecology is one of the most actual themes in problems of social and economic development.

Government of Leningrad region, local authorities, and community pay close and increasing attention to environmental issues. Our region is one of the most developed Russian regions with large investment projects being realized: port and pipeline complexes, development of oil refining, construction, shipbuilding, nuclear power enterprises. They comply with high international standards of ecological safety.

The most valuable nature recourses in future will become pure water and air. Leningrad region, if we have a look at the map, reminds a butterfly - beautiful and fragile creature. Nature is not only our home. It is we are, our today, future of our children and grandchildren.

TEREBNEV LEONID VASILIEVICH

CHAIRMAN OF THE COMMITTEE OF TRANSPORT AND TRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURE OF THE LENINGRAD REGION

Unique transport and geographical position of Leningrad region defines dynamic development of international sea transportations in the region.

Leningrad region bulk-oil complexes at ports of Primorsk, Vysotsk are modern high-technology enterprises that provide ecological safety on level higher than international standards. Port of Primorsk according to evaluation of independent international experts is the most pure and ecologically safe oil harbor in the world.

In the meantime increase in intensity of navigation and cargo turn-over at ports is potentially dangerous for Baltic sea ecology. Increasing level of ecological danger demands preliminary development of preventive measures aimed at ecology systems conservation.

I consider being necessary to express my support of the project “St. Petersburg – the sea capital of Russia. Ecology” and I am willing to participate in the conference.
